TOPPINGS – Five Points Pizza Tops 2012 Nashville Scene Readers Poll

East Nashville’s new Five Point Pizza topped the 2012 Best of Nashville Readers Poll published this week by local alternative weekly, the Nashville Scene. Last year’s winner, Pizza Perfect moved down one spot which in turn pushed the local’s favorite Neapolitan pizza place, Bella Napoli, down to number three.

While both Five Points Pizza and Pizza Perfect are recipients of the Pizza Snob’s “Four-Slice Award”, the Snob defers its top Music City spot to brothers Joey and Manny and their respective Houses of Pizza – both “Five-Slice” honorees of mine. Five Points seems to have gotten the Nashville hipster vote this year sending Mafiaoza’s, 2011’s flavor of the day, off the list.

Five Points was also Food & Drink Writers’ Choice for Best “New York- Style” Pizza, but the writers also gave a nice nod to Joey’s House of Pizza in an ad hoc category for Best Pizza by the Slice. Their award went for one of Joey’s specialty slices, however, not for the basic classic slice which they nail perfectly.

Speaking of the Nashville Scene, locals may want to check out this recent thread discussing Nashville pizza:

Here’s a Five Point’s slice that I enjoyed on a recent visit.
